Wayne Flores
Mayor
Wayne Flores originally from California, has started his retirement life in North Dakota. Wayne enjoys Bingo, working on cars and listening to music. Wayne has served on the Sawyer City Council as the mayor for 2 terms now.Â
Mike Beeter
Chairperson
Mike Beeter has been a part of Sawyer for all of his life. Mike is a retired over the road truck driver who now spend his time making custom metal signs and a wide variety of different metal yard decor. Mike enjoys supporting local businesses as much as possible and talking with people he runs in to.
Susan Schmidt
City Council Member
Susan Schmidt is a native of Minot, but her family moved to Sawyer in 2011 when the Mouse River flood extensively damaged their home. She was the former City of Sawyer Auditor from 2015 through 2021 and is currently an Accountant with the City of Minot. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family which now includes 6 grandchildren. Susan is the founder of Frozen Whiskers Cat Rescue, which has helped to find loving homes for almost 90 cats from Sawyer over the years. What she looks forward to most is relaxing weekends at the lake with Gordy, her husband of 35 years. Susan has been a member of the City Council since 2024.Â
Tom Kempf
City Council Member
Tom Kempf has been a part of Sawyer for 48 years, a volunteer for firefighter for 30 years, worked for Sawyer School for 10 years, and was a Social Worker for 23 years. Tom has been married to Val for 49 years and have 2 wonderful kids together.
Golden Melland
City Council Member
Golden has been a part of Sawyer his entire life. He was a volunteer firefighter for Sawyer for many years as well as a faithful member of the Nazareen Church. Golden has been in a oving relationship with Gracie Moore for many years. Family is always the most important thing to Golden, like his daughter and his mother.

Ken is a proud grandpa of 2. Originally from Spokane, WA he has settled in Sawyer, ND because his son and daughter were here. Kens favorite things to do on his side time is watch movies. He could tell you any facts about any movie . Â
Tessa Miller
City Auditor
Tessa Grew up in Sawyer and graduated from Sawyer School. Married to Aaron Miller who is also born and raised Sawyer. She enjoys spending time with her chickens, working on cars, canning and helping when she can. Tessa has been a part of the Sawyer Fire Department for 10+ years now.Â
